Funding and resource map
A clear picture of what resources the enterprise needs, which pathways may fit, and how to sequence approaches without over-reliance on any single source.
Resources beyond a single grant
Enterprises stall when funding is treated as a lottery ticket rather than a portfolio of pathways matched to stages of readiness. A funding and resource map inventories what the organisation needs—working capital, plant, people, professional advice, systems—and aligns those needs to plausible sources: earned revenue, procurement, government programmes, philanthropy, impact investment, in-kind partnerships and internal reinvestment. The map is a sequencing tool, not a guarantee of capital arriving on any particular timetable.
Amity National prepares maps that privilege commercial sustainability while recognising that blended finance is often part of the journey for Aboriginal and social enterprises. Cultural integrity and community control remain non-negotiable filters on which money is accepted and on what terms, including reporting and branding conditions that may look harmless until they constrain decision-making.
How the map is constructed
We start from the operating and revenue model or from a diagnostic equivalent: what costs are structural, what are project-based, and what timing gaps create cash risk. We then profile funding and resource options against eligibility, effort to pursue, reporting burden, strategic fit and risk to autonomy. Approaches are staged so the enterprise is not writing five applications while still unfinished on governance or compliance prerequisites that those applications quietly assume are already in place.
Where investment term sheets, grant acquittal frameworks, or tax-deductible gift recipient questions require regulated legal or accounting advice, Amity coordinates appropriately qualified advisers. We do not provide that advice ourselves. Our job is to keep the map coherent and to help the enterprise ask specialists the right questions at the right time.
Using the map in practice
The deliverable typically includes a prioritised pathway list, dependency notes, owner assignments and a calendar of near-term actions. It may also identify resources that are not money—secondments, shared services, mentorship, equipment loans—that reduce cash demand while capability grows. Boards can use the map to say no as confidently as yes, which is often the more important skill when opportunistic offers arrive with strings attached.
We emphasise diversification of reliance over time. A healthy trajectory increases the share of earned income and contracted delivery, so programme funding becomes additive rather than existential. That shift is central to the Amity blended-value logic of commercial strength supporting enduring community benefit.
Clear limits
A funding and resource map improves preparedness and focus. It does not guarantee that any funder, investor or buyer will provide capital or contracts, and it cannot control assessment processes or policy shifts. Amity’s commitment is to strengthen the quality of approaches and the enterprise’s ability to pursue them—then to transfer that capability so external advisers are not a permanent bottleneck on every application or negotiation.
The best outcome is an organisation that knows what it needs, why it needs it, and which doors are worth knocking on next—and which doors should remain closed for now in the interests of focus and autonomy.
Sequencing approaches without exhausting the team
Many organisations fail not because pathways are unknown, but because they pursue too many at once with thin evidence packs and unfinished prerequisites. The map therefore includes an effort budget: how many live approaches the team can sustain while still delivering core operations and maintaining cultural obligations. Near-term actions are limited to those that unlock the next decision gate, not every interesting opportunity on the horizon.
We also document decline criteria—misaligned reporting burdens, ownership conditions, branding demands or cash timing that would harm autonomy—so saying no is a governed act rather than a personality clash. Amity coordinates regulated legal or accounting advice when term sheets or gift-recipient questions arise, without providing that advice itself. The map improves focus and preparedness; it does not guarantee capital, contracts or favourable funder decisions.
